LaunchBox 7 1 Download Latest 2017
LaunchBox is a database and a portable game launcher. It was designed to run DOSBox (included with the program), but now it can handle PC games, emulators, and even import your games from Steam.
There is a lot of functionality here, but a splash screen helps to list the various possibilities and provide links to video tutorials.
If you prefer to jump directly, there are wizards to instantly import DOS and other games, but even as a beginner, it does not take long to set something up manually.
We clicked on Game> Add and we were asked to enter a game name. Write only part of a game title - "Meier" - and LaunchBox quickly searches Wikipedia, presenting it with several matches. Choose one of these options and LaunchBox will find all associated metadata (title, release date, genre, platform, etc.) and you can download the associated images (artistic box, screenshots, etc.) in a couple of clicks.
You should then tell the LaunchBox more about the game itself. There is nothing particularly difficult here either: its just a matter of pointing the program at the executables/folders, and (if necessary) telling them to run the game through DOSBox, ScummVM or an emulator.
Repeat this process a few times and LaunchBox presents your games through its cover. You can organize and filter your collection by gender, platform, ESRB classification, developer, and publisher. Clicking on any of them will display all the metadata you downloaded previously, including a rating and description, and you can start your favorite with a click.
A Premium version of the LaunchBox extends the program with a large home screen of the type of view, color themes, custom fonts, saved filters and much more. A one-time payment of $ 20 covers lifetime updates and usage on as many personal computers as you want.
Improvements in performance and some bug fixes
Verdict:
LaunchBox looks great, is highly configurable but also very easy to use.
