The Tank! expansion for The Great War boardgame comes with four Mark IV male and female British tanks as part of the box set. I had already painted one (along with the Kickstarter bonus tanks) as a tester, but then painted the other three to finish them off. As with the other vehicles I got with the Kickstarter , deal, I did a basic paintjob on them. This involved inkwashing the green plastic and painting the tracks and unhitching beam. The beam was painted in Vallejo s Stone Grey then inkwashed in brown. The other details of my painting can bee see in this previous blog post about the Whippets . The detailing on the models is really well done and the rivets and seams, etc. stand out very well and take to an inkwash. As with all of PSC s products, they are a pleasure to paint. These are the last British tanks from the expansion, there are only the German A7Vs left to paint. I will apply the same techniques to those vehicles as well and hopefully they will turn out OK! As previously mentioned, I thought Id do a post on how I painted my models from The Great War Tank! expansion. In this case, these are the three Whippet tanks which I got for my original Kickstarter backer £10 bonus. The principles I have employed on these three tanks are exactly the same as all the other vehicles that came with my package and are very simple to follow.  First off, here is how the models actually arrive. There is a basic paint job on them, the markings on the tracks and a garish red exhaust. But other than that they are pretty plain, some may like them like that, but they are too plain for me! The first thing to do was give the models an inkwash with some slightly watered down Vallejo Black Ink . I dont remember the exact ratio, but it was probably three lots of ink to one of water. Im not very precise about these things... This was liberally applied to the entire bodywork of the tanks and left to dry for a few hours. Once the ink had dried, I painted the tracks...

After several months of waiting Tank! the first Great War expansion by The Plastic Soldier Company dropped through my letterbox. Well, it didnt, it got taken to the sorting office where I had to pick it up tonight... But whatever, its here after a few delays. As with The Great War itself, I got in early with the Kickstarter campaign and I am not disappointed that I did! Here is a quick box opening to show you the contents.  As a Kickstarter backer I got a few extras for my money, including a MDF laser cut card holder, which will be very useful in the game (I note that this was supposed to be plastic, but thats not a big issue) and a perspex artillery template, again another really useful item.
